We thought we’d post a page dedicated to the much anticipated 423 Race.
Everything you need to know can be found here - some of it is a repetition of stuff you’ll have seen before but some of its new.
All the latest information will be posted here first:
OVERVIEW
The 423 is our follow up to the hugely successful Black Run Race held on March. The 423 offers the same format but on a very unique track. The original talk was of linking the top half of DH4 to the bottom half of DH3 with a short stretch of ‘for race only” track. Well after much consideration that new linking section is pretty much going to be the first half of the track!!!!
Race support will be provided by Xtreme Medics and Mikrotime. All BC registered riders can gain BC points although you do not need to be BC registered to race.
PRE-REGISTRATION OFFERS
This time round we have hooked up with the folks at Active Network to offer you the option of registering (and even paying for camping online). A link to this will shortly be placed HERE.
Alternatively you can download an application form very soon or grab a form from the Aston Hill car park.
The race categories are as follows and entry is priced at £23.50 for pre registration only. If you enter on the day this increases to £28.00. Riders who wish to race in their age category AND the hardtail category can enter for £43.00 but only by pre registering.

All pre-registration forms must be posted no later than 7th September to reach us by Wednesday 9th. Online registration will close on Friday 10th.
PRE-REGISTRATION OFFERS
All riders who pre-register will be entered into a draw so even if you don’t take a podium place you could still walk home with a decent prize. Last time round it was a set of Continental RAIN KING tyres worth at least £80.00. Who knows what we will offer this time round.
PRIZES AND SPONSORSHIP
For the race in March we pulled together prizes totalling over £2500. This time round we are hoping to top that.
By means of a little teaser we can announce that the winners of the Juvenille, Youth and Junior categories will receive a 661 full face lid signed by a recent visitor to Aston Hill...GEE ATHERTON.
ON THE DAY
We are taking many measures to ensure rider and spectator safety. Extreme Medics will be on site but we ask you to be aware that the following actions must be obeyed. If not then in accordance with BC race insurance we cannot allow you to race.
All riders must register and obtain a number board before practise runs.
All riders must sign a declaration stating they will abide by the terms of the BC race rules.
All riders must wear full face helmets, they should be done up.
All riders must have bar end plugs fitted, bikes should be in sound mechanical order.
All riders are required to take two practise runs. This will be monitored. Any rider not doing so will not be allowed to race.
Practise will finish at 10.30 prompt for final track inspection. We advise that riders start their first practise run no later that 9.30 to ensure two runs are completed.
There is no stopping to “session” sections of track.
Riders are not allowed to wear headphones or listen to music either on practise or race runs.
Body armour is strongly advised.
Best of luck to everyone who enters.
SPECTATORS
Please come along and support your friends and family. Make some noise, bring air horns, drums, trumpets and cowbells. After the riders you are the most important people at the event. Please remember this is a dedicated mountain bike venue. Please avoid walking on the trails and follow signposts to race viewing points.
PHOTOGRAPHERS AND JOURNALISTS
Anyone wishing to take photographs should be aware that flash lights can be distracting. Please also be aware of your position trackside, ensuring that you do not pose a risk to you yourself or riders. A number of photographers will be on site shooting for the media.
Dave Franciosy will be taking photos on both Saturday and Sunday. Because of his on going support for Aston Hill as well as race sponsorship we have appointed Dave as official photographer. Whilst we welcome other photographers on site for journalistic or hobbyist fulfilment we would ask riders to respect David’s huge input and dedication by only purchasing race photos (should you wish to do so), from him.
